    Say which service stopped working

Faltou luz is a common way to say the power went out; queda de energia is a power outage. For internet, say a internet caiu or estou sem internet. Add the place and time so the building manager or provider can understand the problem quickly.

Explain whether the issue affects only your apartment or also a shared area. Avoid guessing about the cause. A specific report lets the responsible person check the right equipment or contact the service provider.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Say which service stopped working
    Brazilian PortugueseEnglish meaning
Faltou luz no meu apartamento há dez minutos. The power went out in my apartment ten minutes ago.
Estou sem internet desde a manhã.I’ve had no internet since this morning.
O problema também está acontecendo no corredor. The problem is also happening in the hallway.

Ask who will follow up and when

After reporting the problem, ask whether a technician needs access and how you will receive an update. Protocolo is a service reference number; prazo is an estimated time frame. If you receive a reference number, write it down so you can follow up without repeating the entire report.

When you contact a building manager, keep the message brief and include your unit or the affected area. Do not open electrical equipment or attempt repairs based on language from a phrase guide; contact the responsible professional or provider.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Ask who will follow up and when

Remember: Report the affected service, location, start time, and scope; then ask for a reference number and a follow-up estimate.

    Check your understanding

Choose the English meaning of each Portuguese example. Answer before looking back at the tables. These questions check the written examples in this guide; they are not a listening or proficiency test.

Faltou luz no meu apartamento há dez minutos.

Context: Say which service stopped working

Recall the Portuguese, then say it

Read the English prompt and say a Portuguese version before opening the answer. The answer shows the example from the lesson; other natural translations may also work. Compare the meaning and the situation rather than counting a different word as automatically wrong.

Make the phrase useful to you

Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.

Report the affected service, location, start time, and scope; then ask for a reference number and a follow-up estimate.

Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
