    Prepare a short professional introduction

A entrevista de emprego is a job interview. Prepare a short answer with your current role or area, one relevant skill, and the type of work you have done. Keep it accurate and specific; you do not need to translate your entire résumé aloud.

Experiência profissional means work experience. For a previous role, say trabalhei como… (I worked as…) or fui responsável por… (I was responsible for…). Use examples that match the position and describe your actual responsibilities.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Prepare a short professional introduction
    Brazilian PortugueseEnglish meaning
Trabalho com atendimento ao cliente há três anos.I’ve worked in customer service for three years.
Na minha última função, eu organizava a agenda da equipe. In my last role, I organized the team’s schedule.
Tenho experiência com análise de dados.I have experience with data analysis.

Ask about the role and the next step

Use a direct, polite question to learn what the role involves. Responsabilidades means responsibilities, and próxima etapa means next step. Interviews differ by company and job, so adapt the questions to the conversation.

If you need a moment to think, say Deixe-me pensar um pouco (Let me think for a moment) or Posso organizar a ideia? (May I organize my thought?). A calm pause is better than answering a question you did not understand.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Ask about the role and the next step
    Brazilian PortugueseEnglish meaning
Quais são as principais responsabilidades da função?What are the main responsibilities of the role?
    Como é o dia a dia da equipe?What is the team’s day-to-day like?

Remember: Organize your introduction around a real skill and example. Use trabalhei como, fui responsável por, and tenho experiência com to describe your background, then ask about the role or hiring process.

    Check your understanding

Choose the English meaning of each Portuguese example. Answer before looking back at the tables. These questions check the written examples in this guide; they are not a listening or proficiency test.

Recall the Portuguese, then say it

Read the English prompt and say a Portuguese version before opening the answer. The answer shows the example from the lesson; other natural translations may also work. Compare the meaning and the situation rather than counting a different word as automatically wrong.

Make the phrase useful to you

Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.

Organize your introduction around a real skill and example. Use trabalhei como, fui responsável por, and tenho experiência com to describe your background, then ask about the role or hiring process.

Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
