Give a Clear Project Update in Brazilian Portuguese — Practice
A guided practice lesson with English explanations, Brazilian Portuguese examples, and answers you can check. Read the examples, recall the meaning, then say a version of your own.
Separate completed work from work in progress
Use já to signal that something has already happened, and ainda estou… to say that an activity is still under way. Short clauses help the listener distinguish finished tasks from open ones.
You can use concluí (I completed), estou trabalhando em (I am working on), and falta… (what remains is…). Add the project or deliverable so the update is specific.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Já concluí a primeira etapa do projeto. | I’ve completed the first stage of the project. |
| Ainda estou revisando as entrevistas. | I’m still reviewing the interviews. |
| Falta validar os dados com a equipe. | The data still needs to be validated with the team. |
End with the next step or a clear request
Close by saying what you plan to do next or what decision you need. This turns a list of activities into an update the team can act on. If there is a blocker, identify it and say what would unblock the work.
A short update can be one sentence for each stage: completed, in progress, next. Use the same order in a message or a meeting.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| O próximo passo é enviar a versão para revisão. | The next step is to send the version for review. |
| Estou esperando a confirmação do fornecedor. | I’m waiting for confirmation from the supplier. |
| Preciso da sua aprovação para continuar. | I need your approval to continue. |
Remember: A clear update gives the team three facts: what is done, what is in progress, and what happens next. Mention a blocker or decision only when it affects the plan.
Check your understanding
Choose the English meaning of each Portuguese example. Answer before looking back at the tables. These questions check the written examples in this guide; they are not a listening or proficiency test.
Recall the Portuguese, then say it
Read the English prompt and say a Portuguese version before opening the answer. The answer shows the example from the lesson; other natural translations may also work. Compare the meaning and the situation rather than counting a different word as automatically wrong.
I’ve completed the first stage of the project.

Make the phrase useful to you
Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.
A clear update gives the team three facts: what is done, what is in progress, and what happens next. Mention a blocker or decision only when it affects the plan.
Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
