Ask a Brazilian Hotel for Late Check-Out or Luggage Storage — Practice
A guided practice lesson with English explanations, Brazilian Portuguese examples, and answers you can check. Read the examples, recall the meaning, then say a version of your own.
Ask for a later check-out time
Check-out is often called check-out in Brazilian hotels, or you can say horário de saída. Use seria possível…? to make a polite request without assuming the hotel can accommodate it. Name the time you need.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Seria possível fazer o check-out às duas da tarde? | Would it be possible to check out at two in the afternoon? |
| Tem disponibilidade para estender a diária? | Is it possible to extend the stay? |
Check whether there is an extra charge
Hotels may offer a later departure for a fee or only when the room is available. Ask whether there is an additional charge and confirm the exact amount before agreeing.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Há alguma taxa extra para sair mais tarde? | Is there an extra fee to leave later? |
| Até que horas posso ficar no quarto? | Until what time can I stay in the room? |
Leave your bags after check-out
Bagagem means luggage. Many hotels can store bags for a while, but ask where they will be kept and when you should collect them. Confirm whether the service is complimentary.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Posso deixar minhas malas aqui depois do check-out? | Can I leave my bags here after check-out? |
| Onde retiro a bagagem antes de ir para o aeroporto? | Where do I pick up the luggage before going to the airport? |
Remember: Ask for the time, any fee, and the bag collection procedure so the hotel can give you a clear answer.
Check your understanding
Choose the English meaning of each Portuguese example. Answer before looking back at the tables. These questions check the written examples in this guide; they are not a listening or proficiency test.
Recall the Portuguese, then say it
Read the English prompt and say a Portuguese version before opening the answer. The answer shows the example from the lesson; other natural translations may also work. Compare the meaning and the situation rather than counting a different word as automatically wrong.

Make the phrase useful to you
Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.
Ask for the time, any fee, and the bag collection procedure so the hotel can give you a clear answer.
Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
