    Confirm the reservation and bed

At reception, give the name on your reservation and ask which room or bed is yours. Quarto compartilhado means shared room, and cama is bed.

If you need an accessible room or have an arrival question, ask the staff directly. Room assignments and services depend on the specific hostel.

Brazilian Portuguese examples with English translations: Confirm the reservation and bed
    Brazilian PortugueseEnglish meaning
Tenho uma reserva no nome de Kim.I have a reservation under the name Kim.
Qual é a minha cama?Which bed is mine?
    O quarto é compartilhado?Is the room shared?

Ask about lockers and shared facilities

Ask whether there is a locker and whether you need to bring a lock. You can also ask where the kitchen, bathroom, or laundry area is.

Rules and equipment vary. Confirm the hostel’s instructions instead of assuming that every property uses the same setup.

Tem armário com chave? Is there a locker with a key?
Posso usar a cozinha? Can I use the kitchen?

    Clarify quiet hours and check-out

Ask what time quiet hours begin and when check-out is. If staff mention a rule you do not understand, ask them to repeat or write it down.

For a private hotel-room arrival or repair, see our separate hotel check-in and hotel-problem guides.

Remember: Prepare one check-in question, one question about shared facilities, and one about check-out. Let the hostel clarify its own current rules.

    Check your understanding

Choose the English meaning of each Portuguese example. Answer before looking back at the tables. These questions check the written examples in this guide; they are not a listening or proficiency test.

Recall the Portuguese, then say it

Read the English prompt and say a Portuguese version before opening the answer. The answer shows the example from the lesson; other natural translations may also work. Compare the meaning and the situation rather than counting a different word as automatically wrong.

Make the phrase useful to you

Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.

Prepare one check-in question, one question about shared facilities, and one about check-out. Let the hostel clarify its own current rules.

Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
