At a Brazilian Event: Ask About Wheelchair Seating and Companion Seats — Practice
A guided practice lesson with English explanations, Brazilian Portuguese examples, and answers you can check. Read the examples, recall the meaning, then say a version of your own.
Ask about the seating area
Espaço para cadeira de rodas means wheelchair space, and assento acessível means accessible seat. Ask what seating options are available for the specific event and how to select the right ticket category.
The organizer can explain the layout, view, and route for the date you plan to attend. Do not assume that a seating label answers every access question.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Há espaço para cadeira de rodas neste setor? | Is there wheelchair space in this section? |
| Como seleciono um assento acessível? | How do I select an accessible seat? |
Confirm a companion seat and ticket details
Acompanhante is companion. If you need a nearby seat, ask how to book it and whether it is part of the same ticket process. Rules and arrangements depend on the organizer and venue; ask them to explain the current options.
Request confirmation of the section, entry gate, and any ticket instructions in writing so you can refer to them later.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Posso reservar um assento para meu acompanhante ao lado? | Can I reserve a seat next to me for my companion? |
| Esse ingresso inclui acesso ao setor indicado? | Does this ticket include access to the indicated section? |
Ask about the route inside the venue
Ask how to reach the seating area from the entrance and whether the route uses stairs, ramps, or elevators. If there is a separate entrance, ask where it is and when it opens.
Repeat the gate and section numbers to confirm you understood. Use current instructions from the venue on the day of the event.
| Brazilian Portuguese | English meaning |
|---|---|
| Qual é o caminho acessível até esse setor? | What is the accessible route to that section? |
| Qual entrada devo usar? | Which entrance should I use? |
Remember: Ask the organizer to confirm seating, companion arrangements, ticket details, and the route for your particular event.
Check your understanding
Choose the English meaning of each Portuguese example. Answer before looking back at the tables. These questions check the written examples in this guide; they are not a listening or proficiency test.
Recall the Portuguese, then say it
Read the English prompt and say a Portuguese version before opening the answer. The answer shows the example from the lesson; other natural translations may also work. Compare the meaning and the situation rather than counting a different word as automatically wrong.

Make the phrase useful to you
Choose one example you could actually use. Say it once from memory, then change one detail that fits your life, such as the person, place, time, or object. Check whether your change also needs a different verb form, article, or adjective ending. If it does, compare it with the pattern in the explanation.
Ask the organizer to confirm seating, companion arrangements, ticket details, and the route for your particular event.
Return to two prompts tomorrow without opening the answers first. If a phrase still feels difficult, shorten it to a useful chunk and build the complete sentence again.
